RiverView Health to Host Third Annual Women’s Fest on May 11th - 5/11/2010

RiverView Health’s women’s membership program My New View will host the third annual “Women’s Fest” at the main RiverView campus in Crookston on Tuesday, May 11th from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. in recognition of National Women’s Health Week. With the theme “It’s Your Time,” the nationwide initiative encourages women to take simple steps for a longer, healthier, and happier life. Women’s Fest will include educational presentations as well as free acupressure demonstrations, chair massages, mini foot treatments, paraffin hand treatments, door prizes, and refreshments.

The educational presentations will begin with “Life Gets Better…When You Get Better” by Betty Finkenbinder at 3:30 p.m. and again at 4:15 p.m. Betty will share eight yoga moves to improve your health and make you look and feel younger, and she will demonstrate Gyrokineses, a fun new way to move by mixing yoga, dance, and pilates. Betty is a NETA Certified Group Fitness Instructor with 13 years of teaching experience. She recently joined the staff at RiverView Health to provide Yoga instruction at Glenmore Recovery Center.

At 4:15 and 5:15 p.m., Dr. Debra Bell will present “Managing Stress Naturally”.

Dr. Bell’s presentation will focus on the importance of managing stress and taking time for ourselves to improve physical health and wellbeing. Dr. Bell is the founder and medical director of the Riverview Family Practice and Integrative Medicine Center in Crookston, MN. She is a board certified family practitioner and a diplomate of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine. Dr. Bell has 20 years of experience in conventional medicine and complementary and alternative medicine. In addition to her clinical practice at the Integrative Medicine Center, she is the co-director of Integrative Medicine at UND School of Medicine.

My New View-A Health Connection for Women is afree membership program sponsored by RiverView Health. Women completing a My New View membership application, online or on paper, are asked to share basic information such as name and address, as well as a brief inventory of health interests and concerns. This information is being used by RiverView Health to identify needs for health information and education, as well as medical resource development for women.
